The National Autistic Society - Northern Ireland West Branch offers support to families who have a family member with Autism including Asperger’s Syndrome.
The branch provides information about autism, awareness raising, signposting and speaker evenings. It also provides family support such as parent support groups and leisure activities for families. It also campaigns on autism issues both at a local and national level.
The branch holds a family club every Saturday afternoon from 1.30 to 2.30pm in Omagh for children and young people. Activities include volleyball, 5 a side football, art, games consoles, X box, wii and playstation 3. All children/young people are accompanied by a parent/carer and the whole family is welcome including siblings. The club also visits the local cinema once a month for an autism friendly screening.
The branch covers the areas of Derry City, Strabane, Omagh, and Fermanagh.
