The Derry and Strabane Local Action Group (LAG) was set up to deliver the £70 million Rural Development Programme 2014-2020. The funding is to assist with the improvement of the local economy, job creation and tackling poverty.
For this programme to be effective it requires the input from local people who are aware of the challenges and needs of their local areas. This is known as the LEADER approach, an EU wide initiative that gives local people a real opportunity to get involved and have their say in the delivery of a local development strategy. The Local Action Group – LAG is the vehicle to achieve this.
The membership of the LAG comprises of representatives from a range of farming, community, business and Council.
