Alderman Hussey asked if any response had been received from UNISON regarding the concerns raised in relation to the school meals service.
In response, the Director of Health and Community advised that no response had been received to date.
Councillor Harkin thanked Alderman Hussey for raising the matter. He advised that there was currently a campaign in the North for universal free school meals which would not be based on household income. He stated that awareness and information about the campaign would be available soon and hoped that it would be broadly supported.
Alderman Hussey thanked Councillor Harkin for his input and that the campaign for universal free school meals would be welcomed. There was a responsibility that when a child comes to school to ensure that they have a good meal.
