Notices of Motion

Councillor Reilly to Move:

We are proud to live in a diverse and tolerant society.  Racism, xenophobia and hate crimes have no place in our country.  Our Council condemns sectarianism, xenophobia and hate crimes unequivocally.  We will not allow hate to become acceptable.

We will work to ensure that local bodies and programmes have the support and resources they need to fight and prevent racism and xenophobia.

We reassure all people living in this area that they are valued members of our community.

Councillor Cusack to Move:

That this Council recognises the resounding support for remaining in the European Union from people living in this Council area, further recognises the severe impact that withdrawal from the European Union will have on the people living in this border area, and calls on the Northern Ireland Executive to ensure that the will of the people of Northern Ireland is accurately represented in relation to the European Union.

Councillor Tierney to Move:

That this Council recognises the value and importance of Community Planning; notes that final Local Area Plans will be agreed in September; and agrees to launch public awareness campaign to increase engagement and attendance at future workshops.

Alderman Warke to Move:

That this Council recognises the high numbers of citizens, including veterans and serving members of our security forces, who suffer and in many cases have taken their own lives as a result of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and that Council seeks to address the level of support available to these individuals.
