Councillor McKnight to Move:

That Derry City and Strabane District Council writes to the British and Irish governments asking them to formally recognise the democratic outcome of the Catalan Independence Referendum, condemns the brutality of the Spanish police and calls on the Spanish Government to respect the democratic wishes of the Catalan people as expressed in the referendum.

Go ndéanann Comhairle Dhoire agus Comhairle Dúiche an Bharraigh scríobhann do rialtais na Breataine agus na hÉireann ag iarraidh orthu aitheantas a thabhairt go foirmiúil toradh daonlathach Reifreann na Saoirse na Catalóine, a dhéanann díobháil do phóilíní na Spáinne agus glaonna ar Rialtas na Spáinne meas a bheith acu ar mhianta daonlathacha na ndaoine Catalóinis mar a léirítear sa reifreann.

Councillor Gallagher to Move:

That this Council writes to the British and Irish Governments asking them to recognise the legitimacy of the Catalonia referendum held on the 1st. October, 2017 and to call on the Spanish Government to respect the democratic wishes of the people of Catalonia who have called for full sovereignty and self-determination for the state of Catalonia.

Councillor Logue to Move:

I propose that on completion of the current phase of The Brandywell redevelopment, that this Council supports that the football stadium should be renamed The Ryan McBride Stadium subject to officers being asked to bring a paper to a future meeting of the Governance and Strategic Planning Committee to consider the practical implementation of such a proposal.

Go dtacóidh an Chomhairle seo leis an mholadh go n-athainmneofaí staid pheile Thobar an Fhíoruisce mar Staid Ryan McBride nuair a chríochnófar an chuid seo den scéim athfhorbartha, ar an choinníoll go n-iarrfaí ar Oifigigh tuairisc a chur faoi bhráid an Choiste um Rialachas agus Pleanáil Straitéiseach amach anseo maidir le cur i bhfeidhm praticiúil an mholta.

Councillor Gardiner to Move:

This Council notes the well documented and evidenced hardship caused in England, Scotland & Wales by the roll out of Universal Credit; this Council calls for an immediate halt to the rollout of Universal Credit across Northern Ireland to protect the most vulnerable and the disadvantaged from poverty, rent arrears and homelessness; and calls for all political parties to work to deliver a system that is fair, practical and compassionate.
