LA11/2018/1120/O – The erection of residential building to provide 6 no. 3 bedroom apartments and associated works at the front garden of No.66 Culmore Road, Derry.

 

The Principal Planning Officer presented the above application, details of which had been previously circulated to Members.  She gave an overview of the background to the application and based on material consideration and in line with planning policy, it was recommended to approve planning permission, subject to the conditions as outlined within the report.

 

Councillor Kelly sought confirmation as to whether density was fixed or could be increased. In response, the Head of Planning affirmed that any deviation from the plan with regards to density would require an additional application which would be brought before Members.

Councillor Boyle moved, seconded by Alderman Bresland to support the recommendation to approve planning permission subject to the conditions as outlined within the report.

The outcome of the vote was:

 For 7, Against 0, Abstention 1.  The proposal was carried.

Resolved         that planning application LA11/2018/1120/O be approved planning permission subject to the conditions as outlined within the report.

 

LA11/2018/1109/F - The construction of a 3m wide (width may vary as shown on the drawings) shared pedestrian and cyclist Greenway Path at Strabane By Pass (A5) and the widening of existing path infrastructure at Derry Road, Canal Basin, John Wesley Street and Main Street, Strabane, to provide the 3m wide (width may vary) Greenway. Proposals also include amendments to existing road kerb alignments, new road markings and signage, drainage, hard and soft landscaping, new path lighting, adjustments to existing road lighting and boundary treatments as shown on the drawings. Amended Plans received.Located at Strabane By Pass (A5), Derry Road, Canal Basin, John Wesley Street and Main Street, Strabane.

Councillor Kelly noted that the workhouse building was not highlighted amongst listed buildings within proximity to the project. He put on record his support for the plan, stating that it was a very welcome development.

Councillor Kelly moved, seconded by Alderman Bresland to support the recommendation to approve planning permission subject to the conditions as outlined within the report.

The outcome of the vote was unanimous support for the proposal.

Minutes:

The Principal Planning Officer presented the above report, a copy of which had been previously circulated to Members.  She advised that the purpose of the report was to update Members on planning appeals currently in the system.

Wind Farm Appeal to An Bord Pleanála against Refusal of Planning Application by Donegal County Council for Proposed Wind Farm Development at Momeen and Lettergull, Lifford, Co. Donegal

Minutes:

The Principal Planning Officer presented the above report, a copy of which had been previously circulated to Members. The purpose of this report was to advise Members of receipt of a letter from An Bord Pleanála dated 11 December 2019 in relation to an appeal for the erection of a wind farm in Co. Donegal.

Minutes:

The Principal Planning Officer drew Members attention to correspondence relating to Application A/2014/0035/RM.

Councillor Kelly requested an update on correspondence from DFI in relation to overhead line and underground cabling at Strabane substation (LA11/2019/1000/F).

Responding to Councillor Kelly, the Chair confirmed that an update would be brought to Members’ attention at the next Planning Committee meeting.
